The Big Difference
The Big Difference is a food redistribution charity serving the community of Southampton.
Since 2020, The Big Difference has given out over 4.5 million pounds worth of food.
We work with over 100 charities, community groups, schools, and places of worship in and around Southampton to help struggling families and the vulnerable who are facing food insecurity.
Each month, we currently help save over 40 tonnes of food from going into landfill. That is over 95,000 meals per month.
In June 2024 we started our first social supermarket and have seen hundreds of people have access to more affordable food, while indirectly helping thousands of others. We opened our second social supermarket in July 2025.
